We would like to control the match to show that we are playing in our home stadium-Team Manager Petrovic

Comment from Team Manager Petrovic the day before the J. League 2nd Sec match against Gamba Osaka

I think the match we will be playing tomorrow will be one of the biggest matches we play in the J. League. The match will be fought between the giant football club Gamba Osaka and Urawa Reds. I believe that the match will attract lots of media attention not to mention many of our supporters to our stadium. The match will draw a great deal of interest. Gamba Osaka has become a highly experienced team playing under the same team manager for several years. I am also aware that Urawa Reds has not been able to win against them in the past three or four years. I trust that it will change tomorrow. There will be a great opportunity for us.
I have the impression that Gamba Osaka’s play style is very non-Japanese. They play like a very experienced European team. I think working under the same team manager for several years by trusting him through the good times and bad times has paid off and made the team stronger with good team work and good match records. This must have contributed a lot to the team’s recent success. For this reason, I have a great respect for the team.
As we will be playing at our home stadium, I would like our team members to control the match so that we can show that we are playing at our home ground. I believe in our players’ ability. The team played well against Avispa Fukuoka and Nagoya Grampus. It was of course a pity that we did not win against Nagoya Grampus. But, I think our team can challenge tomorrow’s match by having a great deal of confidence in themselves.
