We will fight through without giving up until the very end as long as there is an opportunity – Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J.League 33rd Sec match against Sagan Tosu

It is very difficult for me to comment on today’s match under the current situation but I would like to make a short comment.

During our previous match against Gamba Osaka, we lost a goal after 88 minutes into the match. We lost a goal again today towards the end of the match after 94 minutes and finished the match with a draw. We played a very tough and painful game today.

Over the last two years we have played very difficult matches here in Tosu. It is not easy for us to play in Tosu.

However, unlike our previous matches over the past two years, our players counteracted our opponent team’s strengths this time. By comparing to the past two matches, I was able to see the big differences during the match today in the way our players dealt with long balls and second balls and were able to lead the match with the correct time frame.

After we started to lead the match by scoring the first goal, we had several chances to score another goal. However, we were not able to capitalize on those scoring opportunities and lost a goal from a corner kick after 94 minutes into the match at the very end. It was a painful loss, which reminded me of the match we played against Vegalta Sendai last year when we lost a goal from a set play towards the end of the match after around 93 minutes.

I feel terribly sorry for our players who played hard and our supporters who boosted and rooted for us. However, we still have the final sec match against Nagoya Grampus. We will fight as one team with our supporters to win as long as there is an opportunity.

Our team was in the top position of the league for over half the season. It is hard for us to concede the top position just before the last sec match. But, we will fight through without giving up until the very last moment.
