Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J. League 21st Sec match against FC Tokyo

Considering the environment surrounding soccer in Japan, it is quite difficult for me to make a comment after finishing a match with the result of four to four. If this was in Europe, everyone including those who watched the match in the stadium or on TV would think they observed a fantastic match when a match finishes with such a result. However, I am worried that there will be some media articles tomorrow highlighting the fact that Urawa Reds lost four goals during the match today.

Right from the outset, today’s match was expected to be a difficult one as the number of goals both teams had lost in the J. League this season so far were almost the same, with Urawa Reds having lost 14 goals and FC Tokyo 15 goals. Though our team scored the first goal today, our opponent caught up with us by a corner kick and our team lost three goals in a row from there. Our players were in shock and went through a very difficult situation as they weren’t able to grasp what was really happening on the pitch when they lost a number of goals. However, when the result reached one to three, they regained their calm and managed to perform what they had to do. As a result, they were able to score a second goal.

During the second half of the match, our team was successful in outperforming our opponent and was able to play aggressively. Our team caught up with FC Tokyo and created two more scoring opportunities. Yet, we lost another goal as our opponent nailed their only one scoring chance. Nonetheless, we equalized again with our opponent soon after. Towards the end of the match, Marcio created another good opportunity. However, the match ended with a draw as the opportunity was regrettably lost.

Though our team lost four goals naively, they managed to catch up with FC Tokyo when they were leading the match with the result of one to three. Our players continued to fight through with the aim to seize a victory by catching up with them again even after our opponent team scored yet another goal. Our team also created even further scoring opportunities to come from behind. Considering the match was an away match, the team performed well by fighting and scoring goals in the way they did. I think the spectators enjoyed a very exciting and dynamic match today. I heard that the Team Manager of the Japan National Football Team came to the stadium to watch our match today. I believe he left the stadium feeling satisfied.
