Today’s victory was the result of our continued battle with a strong determination to win–Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J. League 28th Sec match against Omiya Ardija

At last, our team won the match against Omiya Ardija. While Omiya’s Novakovič created a decisive scoring opportunity for their team soon after the match started, it was fortunate that they did not score a goal from that opportunity. Right after our team scored a goal from a penalty kick, one of Omiya Ardija’s players was sent off from the pitch receiving a red card. Though we had a few good opportunities to score a second goal, we were not able to make the most of such opportunities before we finished the first half of the match. Had we had nailed another goal earlier, we could have had an easier game to play.

Nonetheless, the reason why we had been able to achieve a great victory today was because our players had kept their strong determination to win until the last moment of the match. Though we have to take into account the fact that our opponent had one less member playing, our team nevertheless played better than our opponent today. Winning the victory against Omiya Ardija today has provided a moment of liberation for the team to be free from the recent past grave history. It was marvelous that our team was able to win the match surrounded by a fantastic atmosphere which only Urawa Reds can truly enjoy.

I am pleased that our team was able to show our style of aggressive soccer after we had struggled to show our true colors when playing our last two matches against Ventforet Kofu and Shonan Bellmeare. Our team had really good coordination even without the ball today. We would like to dedicate today’s victory to our supporters. Today’s match was not an easy match to play. But, being able to win against Omiya Ardija which we could not do for a long time lifted a great weight off our shoulders.
