Team Manager Tsuyoshi Otsuki – Press Conference after the Match against Vissel Kobe

Comment from Team Manager Tsuyoshi Otsuki after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League 12th Sec Match against Vissel Kobe 【Match Partner Shimachu Co., Ltd.】

We wanted to score a goal before our opponent did in the second half of the match. Not having been able to do so had a lasting impact on our team. Afterall, soccer is a goal scoring game. This is what happens when a team cannot score goals.

As for the content of the match, we should have played a better-quality match during the first half. Our defense was weak, and our opponent did a better job such as delivering a cross. We should have played a better match and should have nailed the opportunities we created during the second half of the match today.

Questions and Answers

Q: Your team let go of a few good attacking opportunities during today’s match. But, there were times when the team had managed to keep the ball in their possession. How do you evaluate your team’s fast and slow attack moves during today’s match?

A: When we had the ball in our possession, we should have performed better especially between the end and middle lines. Since we also made many mistakes, I talked with the team about this during half time. It would have been better had we been able to better utilize that space. There are things I want our team to do including fast attack moves. However, since we were playing against an opponent, everything our team did today wasn’t bad though not everything they did was good either.

Q: As for the second half of the match, I trust you must have felt frustrated since the result necessarily didn’t reflect the content of the match. What positive aspects did you find today to move forward?

A: We have been making steady efforts to build up ourselves point by point. Since we had points to learn from today’s match, I will continue to share these points with our players from now in order to better prepare ourselves for the next match.
