Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Sagan Tosu

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 14th Sec match against Sagan Tosu

We came to the stadium to win the match no matter what today. As a matter of fact, our players played hard until the last whistle was blown in order to seize a victory. I thought our team was able to control the match while having the ball in their possession from the beginning of the match until the very end. As a result, our team had created many good opportunities today. However, we were not able to nail those opportunities we created. It is true that our players struggled to score goals as they were not able to increase their precision or put themselves half a step forward when necessary. As time passed by, our team players were able to control the game more and increased their attacks against our opponent team. During the second half of the match, our team was vigorously attacking the opponent team with about eight of our players in the opponent’s side of the pitch. However, the fact of the matter was that we were slightly lacking in our precision.

Our team played an away match against FC Seoul for 120 minutes and lost the match on Wednesday. They came to the stadium today still suffering from the shock of that regrettable defeat. I don’t mean to make any excuses but the fact that our players were not able to nail the decisive point of the previous match certainly had a negative effect on them today. As their team manager, I was interested to see how our players would perform under a difficult situation and I was observing them with this in mind. But, our players remained highly concentrated today and played their style of soccer from the beginning till the end with an aim to seize a victory. It is not easy to play like they did today after such a shocking defeat while suffering from fatigue.

Our players have grown over the past four and a half years. I was able to see their growth during the match today. I am very proud of our players who played hard until the last moment without giving up on the idea of winning the match today. I would like to praise our players as well as our fans and supporters who pushed themselves today. Our fans and supporters bolstered us until the very end while our players were struggling. Let alone, they cheered our players to show their support even after the match. I would like to express my sincere thanks to them for such great support. I felt that we were playing the match together with them today.

As far as the result is concerned, we were not able to win and finished the match with a draw today. Some may focus on the fact that our team lost two points. However, I trust the fact that our team gained one point by drawing the match today will lead to something positive in the coming matches. By looking at how our players performed today, I was also convinced that our team can be at the very top after the 17th sec match.
