Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Montedio Yamagata

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J.League 1st Stage 2nd Sec match against Montedio Yamagata

We knew that today’s match would be a very difficult one before we played the match. We expected our opponent to form strong defense blocks against us and take the ball away from us to make swift attacks. It is not easy to break the tight defense blocks of such an opponent.

As for the first half of the match, we struggled to wage attacks on our opponent as they were still fresh in their movements. When our team tried to make an offensive by kicking the ball vertically across the field, our opponent managed to take the ball from our team.

During the first half, our team was not able to play as well as we had intended to. However, our opponent team was not able to create decisive opportunities either. I think this shows our team was successful in making swift changes between offensive and defensive moves and this can be viewed as a positive development for us.

In our original game plan, we expected our opponent to be less agile in their movements towards the end of the first half of the match. During the second half of the match, more and more unmanned spaces were created by the opponent team in the field. By taking advantage of these opportunities, our team was able to move the ball around under our control to make our style of attacks against the opponent. We had also created a few scoring opportunities as well. I am very pleased that our team made the most of such opportunities to score a goal, which led us to the victory today. I should also note it positive that the team was very patient even when they failed to score goals and that they remained concentrated in their defense.
