Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Kashima Antlers

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 15th Sec match against Kashima Antlers

Both teams played a fantastic match fiercely today with a very high tempo. As we were playing soccer, obviously the match had to end with the result of either one team being defeated or in a draw. I am extremely disappointed that we lost the match after playing a very good game today.

Looking at today’s game, I thought our team developed their offense from the back in a calm manner. Our players moved the ball around well and successfully passed the ball vertically to three front players. However, once the ball got to the front line, the team sometimes failed to carry on to play successfully. They also lacked in precision in executing last passes and kicks at the very end even when they were able to carry on successfully. The difference between our team and our opponent team during today’s match was that our opponent team had a few players with good individual ability who were able to outdo our players in terms of dribbling and moving the ball forward. When our opponent team scored their goals, they moved the ball forward to the goal and successfully scored the goals with a small number of players.

In contrast, our team members struggled to carry out the decisive moves required in front of the goal line as well as outdo our opponent players at an individual level even though we were pressing our opponent team. Our team players also lacked in precision in terms of nailing goals even when they had chances to score. However, looking at the overall performance, the game our team played was not necessarily a bad one. It is very regrettable that we lost an important match today. But, we have many important matches lined up ahead of us such as against Gamba Osaka, Sanfrecce Hiroshima, FC Tokyo and Vissel Kobe. For this reason, we will reflect upon what is need to be improved and then refocus ourselves to prepare well for the upcoming challenging matches together as a united team.
