Team Manager Mischa and Abe attend official pre-match press conference

An official AFC Champions League 2015 pre-match press conference was held at Beijing Workers Stadium in Beijing in the afternoon on 16 March ahead of the group stage’s third round match against Beijing Guoan Football Club which will be held tomorrow. Urawa Reds Team Manager Mischa and player Yuki Abe attended the press conference to answer questions from both Japanese and Chinese media.

Comment from Team Manager Mischa
Tomorrow’s match will be a very difficult match for us. While Beijing Guoan won their first and second ACL matches, we lost both first and second ACL matches. It will be very difficult to play against a team which is currently in good shape and momentum.

Having said that, despite that fact that we lost our first two ACL matches, we were also able to gain confidence that we have enough ability to be victorious against any team from playing in those matches.

I regard Beijing Guoan as a great team. But, so is Urawa Reds. We will do all we can to win the match tomorrow.

As for the team’s condition, it is far from best at the moment. Looking at the recent schedule, Beijing Guoan played a Chinese League match last Friday but we played a match last Saturday. For this reason, I believe Beijing Guoan is in better condition. Nonetheless, we will raise our motivation high to fight well even under such a disadvantageous condition.

Comment from Yuki Abe
With regard to our preparation, we prepare ourselves well in order for us to do our best in every match we play. We must win against the opponent that won their previous two matches in a row. All we need to do tomorrow is to give everything we have to win against our opponent.

As for Japanese teams’ performance so far, they have been struggling to do well in this year’s ACL. However, I feel there was only a fine line between them loosing and winning. We must make sure that we win by making the most of the opportunities we create. I don’t think the level of Japanese soccer is on the decline. I think the level of soccer in Asia in general is on the rise.
