Team Manager Mischa – pre-match press conference the day before the match against Omiya Ardija

Comment from Team Manager Mischa the day before the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League first stage 11th Sec match against Omiya Ardija

Derby matches exist anywhere in the world and certainly those derby matches can get fierce. We will play a Saitama derby match tomorrow. I expect the match to be fierce and not easy one to play.

I imagine the match will be highly motivational and emotional for both teams. However, we should not be carried away in the wrong direction as a result. We must control our heightened emotions to play a good match tomorrow.

Looking back at the past ten official matches Omiya Ardija has played, they have been playing a very compact and disciplined game. All their players run well and work hard. They also have a number of high quality players in their front line. As the current standings show, I regard Omiya Ardija as a strong and united team. Having said that, our team has been in good condition as well. I believe all our team members have prepared themselves well after having had good training.

All we must do now is to translate what we have leant during training into real actions on the pitch. While we are currently ranked at the top, we must win tomorrow’s match in order to continue to stay at the top. We will put everything we have got into every match as a fully united team.

I don’t think it is necessary for us to change the way we play just because we will be playing a derby match tomorrow. All we are going to do is to perform as we always do by running hard and battling around the ball while being tactically disciplined.
