Team Manager Mischa – pre-match press conference the day before the match against Kashima Antlers

Comment from Team Manager Mischa the day before the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance 2016 J. League Championship final first leg match against Kashima Antlers

To be honest with you, it would have been better for us if we had been able to play the Championship final match right after we finished playing the J. League season matches. However, we have no choice but to play according to the pre-determined schedule. It has been quite difficult for us to maintain our team’s concentration and tension as it has been a while since we last played an official match. Having said that, our players have remained focused and had worked hard playing practice matches and training themselves during practice.

As was evidenced by the fact that Kashima Antlers won against Kawasaki Frontale in the Championship semi-final match, we regard them a very formidable team. In addition, our past matches against Kashima Antlers have always been neck-and-neck in which either of us could have won. As we will be playing the final match tomorrow, I won’t expect the match to be easy. I guess our team has a 50 percent chance to win the match. However, I believe we have prepared ourselves well for tomorrow’s match with all of us including team manager, club, players and staff members remaining focused and having a good sense of tension. We will be united as a solid team and will fight through in order to achieve a positive result tomorrow.
