Our team seized the victory by overcoming the challenge of keeping its motivation high – Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup Preliminary League 7th Sec match against Nagoya Grampus

We had a difficult match to play as it wasn’t easy for our players to keep their motivation high to play a so called throw away match while our opponent team really had to win the match. It is also often the case that teams lose matches when one of their players are leaving the team. However, we were able to play an interesting soccer match during the first half for spectators to watch. Having said that, our team played a passive game and for the first 15 minutes into the second half of the match, our players did what they should not have done. I am very curious to analyze why they played as they did and if we can find out the reason why, Urawa Reds will be a lot closer to being a perfect team.

If we are looking for some excuses, we can say that the team played under a difficult condition after playing in a series of matches over a short period of time in high heat, not to mention the match was a throwaway match. But, I wish to fully analyze why the team played such a 15 minute period during the second half of the match. The team played very well during the first half, but we nearly destroyed the good flow we created by ourselves. When something like this happens, our efforts will be wasted. For this reason, we will address our issues so that we won’t end up losing or drawing in a good match in the future.
