Head Coach Yusaku Ueno – press conference after the match against Kashima Antlers

Comment from Head Coach Yusaku Ueno after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League 30th sec match against Kashima Antlers

It is extremely disappointing that we were not able to gain any points by not winning the match today. Our players were suffering from fatigue but given our current position in the J. League standings and the fact that we are going through a tough time at the moment, we really wanted to win the match to gain winning points.

Questions and Answers

Q: How do you evaluate the content of the match and the performance of your players?

A: I would like to give a positive evaluation of our team in terms of having a good fighting spirit throughout the match until the very last moment. I think they did well in this regard. In addition, I thought our new players also worked hard today and I feel grateful for that.

In regards to the actual content of the match, they persevered when they were pressed by our opponent team and there were moments when our team waged good attacks against our opponent by spreading wide to push them close to the goal. Even though I am not satisfied with the overall content, I hope some positive aspects of the match will be carried into our next match.

Q: With regard to the starting members, I trust that Team Manager Otsuki made the decision. Fukushima was appointed to be the goalkeeper and other players who haven’t played for a while such as Kashiwagi and Shibato were also selected to play today. What kind of discussion did you have with Team Manager Otsuki in regard to the team’s overall coordination?

A: I am not in the position of answering the question. Today’s members were selected in consideration of many factors including our match schedule. I am afraid that I cannot say any more than that.
