After playing the match against Yokohama F-Marinos-Team Manager Finke

Comment from Team Manager Volker Finke after playing in the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup qualifying round seventh sec against Yokohama F-Marinos

Unfortunately, we had invited the situation by ourselves where we could no longer move on to play in the final tournament. What was important for us in this type of situation was to show our team’s real character and I think we managed not to give anything to our opponent under the situation we were in this time.
Now, I have no intention of making detailed comments. Having said that, we certainly faced two counter attack situations and decisive moments during the second half of the match. Yokohama F-Marinos had to score a goal at that time. As a result, there were some vacant spaces created. Since this was the case, we were able to create the opportunity to play two on one to make counter attacks twice. However, we were not able to make the most of these opportunities we created. It was very regrettable.
Though there were some regrettable moments, there were many positive developments as well. One was that Naoki Yamada is back now to join the team to play in a real match situation like he did today. I think he will be one of the most valuable players to play in the forthcoming 22 J. League matches.
Another happy development was how Spiranovic has recently developed himself. Under such a situation, it is very unfortunate that we will not get to play in the final tournament. Nonetheless, there were several important positive developments while we were playing for the group league.
From now on, I will give the team about 8 to 9 days off. After that we will have our training camp in Austria. We will play at least four matches while we are in Austria during our 10 days training camp there. I hope that our players will develop further through the stimulating experiences they will have in Europe.
