We wish to thank our supporters who gave us such strong encouragement–Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup Semi-final Second Leg match against Kawasaki Frontale

We are extremely pleased to get the chance to advance to the final match. When looking at the result of one to zero alone, people may think it was a very close contest. However, our team was able to pull off a fantastic performance throughout the ninety minutes. Our players battled with a strong determination to win from the very beginning of the game. However, they were not able to make the most of the many scoring opportunities they created, though this is not particularly new. Nonetheless, our players performed so well and I would like to thank our supporters who gave us such strong encouragement to make this possible.

I think our team played well during today’s and the previous semi-final matches deserving the chance to play in the final. We will have a series of tough matches ahead of us from next week including the Emperor’s Cup and J. League matches. But today, we would like to celebrate the fact that our team now seized the chance to play in the final.

I regard a weekend match as a type of festival and I think everyone cerebrated a joyous soccer culture today. I also believe that our team executed a high level performance today.

If Kawasaki Frontale had created crucial moments during the second half of the match today, they could have caught up with us and we could have been the one to lose in this semi-final match. Even if this would have been the case, I wouldn’t change our direction in the pursuit of our soccer style. There is no doubt that I am pleased with today’s victorious result. However, it is important for us to judge ourselves by looking at the substance rather than just a result.
