We will continue to play aggressive soccer-Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J. League 20th Sec match against Nagoya Grampus

Players of both teams performed tremendously well today despite the extreme heat. Our team was able to play our style of soccer during the first half of the match. I feel we really should have made the most of the decisive moments we had created.

During the second half, we lost two consecutive goals in a short period of time because of the mistakes we made. As our team was lagging behind with the score of two to zero, we introduced our aggressive players to make offensive attacks by taking some risks. If Sekiguchi’s attempted goal was successful, the course of the match could have been a different one. I thought the chance our team had created at that time was quite well executed as we were able to disrupt our opponent team’s momentum.

Though Urawa Reds had lost today’s match, I feel our team played a good aggressive game. Our opponent teams often employ very defensive tactics when playing against us. We will continue to play aggressive soccer.

Our team had created many chances again today. What we were missing during today’s match was turning such chances into our advantage. The chance Koroki created during the first half of the match was extremely well executed which broke the balance of our opponent team. It was such a pity that such opportunities were wasted today. Despite our defeat, I am certain both teams’ supporters watching the match in the stadium enjoyed it.

When we played against Jubilo Iwata recently, I scolded my team after the match despite our victory. On the contrary, I do not think it will be necessary to do the same today even though we lost the match. The only thing which was missing today was us actually nailing the goals. The result of today’s match would have been very different had we been able to score a goal first. What is important for us is to keep fighting without losing our direction.
