We must nail the scoring chances we create to make a shot on goal – Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J. League 4th Sec match against Shimizu S-Pulse

We had no idea how the match would turn out to be today as no one had experienced playing an official match without any spectators before. I expected it to be more disadvantageous for us as it was our home match. Though we had the ball under our control, we were not able to pick up the tempo during the first half of the match and we were somewhat lacking in our aggressiveness midway through the match. I guess this worked out to be beneficial for our opponent team. While Shimizu S-Pulse did not create many scoring opportunities, our team lost a goal from a corner kick. Perhaps because there were no spectators, the match developed into something like a practice match. There were not many movements off the ball and we were not able to get the ball into crucial spots.

During the second half of the match, we played more aggressively. The team used the middle and side of the pitch effectively to wage dangerous attacks against our opponent. The challenge we faced today was not being able to score as many goals as the chances we created. The team still cannot make the most of the scoring chances they create. This was the case when we played against Sagan Tosu and Kashiwa Reysol. We must tackle the issue of not being able to nail the scoring chances we create to make a shot on goal.

As you can see over the last five matches the team played during this season, we have been able to contain our opponents’ attacks. During today’s match, Shimizu S-Pulse created a dangerous scoring opportunity towards the end of the second half of the match. However, except for that, our team pressed the opponent team well and executed both good defense and attacks. All our opponent team was able to do was to kick a long ball in desperation. Our defense has been stable during this season and the team has been carrying out smooth attacks by utilizing the middle and side of the pitch effectively. However, the team still lacks in precision when it comes to making the final shot to score goals. This is something the team must improve in the coming matches.
