Team Manager Oswaldo Oliveira – press conference after the match against Sagan Tosu

Comment from Team Manager Oliveira after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League 21st Sec match against Sagan Tosu

Urawa Reds controlled the match and created many good opportunities today. It was obvious that we were in control and had continued to play near the opponent’s goal area. All we were missing today was the luck to nail the goal scoring opportunities we had created.

Questions and Answers
Q: You went to talk to a referee to make a complaint regarding the final call. What kind of explanation did you receive regarding that?

A: We had a confusing situation around the goal area. I believe what happened was that the chief referee who was standing nearby didn’t seem to be the chief referee and looked as though he was an assistant referee standing afar. However, we are yet to receive an explanation from them.

Q: There seemed to have been some misalignments in terms of the ball passing and finishing. Do you think this was because of the fatigue players are suffering as a result of several matches recently played over a short period of time? The starting members are currently fixed but do you think it is necessary to change some of them?

A: As far as the fatigue our players are suffering is concerned, I think it is relative. I believe our players pressed our opponent team well and had created a good flow for the match today. However, our team was lacking in precision and there was misalignment to finish off. But, this is something we can continue to work on to do better. In my opinion, I trust it was possible for our team to score a goal today. However, this was nulled. But, I would like to make no further comment about this.

Q: Unfortunately, Urawa Reds lost the match today for the first time after the team returned from the mid-term break. How will the team spend their time over the next few days before the next home match against Jubilo Iwata?

A: We will concentrate on the recovery of our players and in-class sessions. As the team has had energy draining matches in this very hot weather, I would like to prepare the team through the means of talking sessions.
The team had necessary training during the training camp we had in Shizuoka. For this reason, what is most important for the team is to recover well. I want my team players to have nutritious food and work on their recovery.
