Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Vissel Kobe

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 16th Sec match against Vissel Kobe

Every match we play is a difficult match and today’s match was no exception as we had expected. Since our team hasn’t lost any J. League matches we have played so far this season, any team that plays against us comes to the stadium with a high motivation to win against us and to judge its true ability. They prepared themselves for their match against us with about a 300 percent commitment.

During the first half of the match, Vissel Kobe had a close opportunity as the ball they kicked hit the goal post. It was lucky that we were able to finish the match with a leading score of one to zero. During the second half of the match, our team had a stable defensive and we created many scoring opportunities. Shinzo Koroki did particularly well to create a great scoring opportunity. Had he been able to nail the chance, the team would have finished the match with a score of two to zero. However, the team had faced the difficulty of playing the match with one less player after Ugajin was sent off from the pitch for receiving a red card. Today’s hot and steamy weather along with the long grass condition of the pitch also made it very challenging for us to play.

Even though the team was short by one player, they played the match with a very strong determination to win. They had a firm defense and they were determined to score goals.

Yuki Muto also created a fantastic scoring opportunity in front of the goal. However, unfortunately the ball he kicked went right in front of the goal keeper. If he was able to score the goal, the team would have been able to finish the match in a more relaxed manner. Under such circumstances, our team ended up allowing our opponent team to score a goal towards the end of the match. However, it was good that our team managed to finish the match with the result of one to one without allowing any further opportunities for our opponent team to score any more goals. Having said that, as their team manager, I am not totally satisfied with the result. But, I must regard the result positively as the team finished the match with a draw after playing a very difficult match.

I have experienced J. League matches for ten seasons now. I found it very rare that we had six minutes of additional time. I think our players found it difficult to play the additional six minutes with one less player. Over my forty years of career in the professional soccer sphere, I have seen that referees became the center of attention when important showcase matches are played. I personally think that if referees were not at the center of attention, it means that their judgement was good. I think the referee did his best today and I am of the opinion that it is necessary also for them to do their best so that we can work together to bring the level of our soccer higher.
