Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Omiya Ardija

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 11th Sec match against Omiya Ardija

First of all, I would like to mention that I am not fully satisfied with our team’s performance today. I thought there were many occasions throughout the match where our players were not able to play as we aimed to play. Having said that, I don’t think Omiya Ardija players outdid our players today.

As for the first half of the match, our players struggled to pick up tempo as their movement was sluggish. The sudden rise in the temperature may be one of the reasons for their sluggish movements.

As a result, our team allowed our opponent team a few decisive opportunities. However, Yosuke Kashiwagi had managed to score a wonderful goal by fantastically switching from defensive to offensive moves. Thanks to Yosuke’s goal, our team regained their calm for the rest of the match.

During the second half of the match, our players controlled the game relatively well to the point where they didn’t allow their opponent to create any substantial scoring opportunities. Looking at the overall match, I trust our players’ performance was worthy of the victory they had today. However, what our players showed on the pitch was not fully satisfactory. Nonetheless, I regard the fact that we won the match today as something positive. We were able to win the match though we were not able to fully play the type of soccer we aimed to play. In the past, there were a few occasions when our team lost a match even though we outperformed our opponent team. In this regard, I would like to regard today’s match something very positive.

Any derby match played between teams based in a same city becomes very fierce no matter which cities or countries they are based in. When a derby match like that is played, the teams’ rankings are often disregarded. For this reason, today’s match was a very challenging one for us to play as well. However, our players had managed to fight through the match to achieve a good result. For this reason, I think our players deserve a good round of applause. But, I know they can play a better game. For this reason, I would like to commend our players for their strong determination to win and their fighting spirits. However, they must increase their ability to perform better in the future.
