Team Manager Mischa – press conference after the match against Cerezo Osaka

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 22nd sec match against Cerezo Osaka

I had expected today’s match to be a very hard one. Cerezo Osaka is a hard-working and disciplined team that plays a compact game. When we lost two goals at six and eight minutes into the match just after it started, it would not have been easy to come from behind against an opponent like we had today. We also lost our third goal from a cross and lost another goal from a middle range shot. I don’t think our opponent had created many critical scoring opportunities. Nonetheless, when we lost four goals during the first half of the match, it became very difficult to catch up with them and come from behind. Our team has lost several goals during the matches we have recently played. Looking at how we lost our goals, many of them stemmed from making easy mistakes like the ones many student teams would make. When we repeat losing our goals like this, it becomes very difficult to win matches.

During the second half of the match, we had created a few opportunities at the beginning by pressing our opponent team. Had we been able to make the most of such opportunities and been able to score a third goal, the rest of the match could have taken a different path. However, the match ended as it did as we were not able to nail such chances. Currently, many of our players have been struggling to be in better condition and this is exactly the problem the team is facing right now.
