Team Manager Mischa – pre-match press conference the day before the match against FC Tokyo

Comment from Team Manager Mischa the day before the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League first stage 13th Sec match against FC Tokyo

FC Tokyo has always been a difficult opponent to play against under any circumstance. In addition to this, as we were defeated over the past three consecutive matches, I expect the match against them will be a difficult one. However, what we need for our team is another victory. We will do our best and fight together as one united team in order to seize a good outcome.

After the previous match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima, I told the team that there is no need for us to be pessimistic about our current situation more than necessary. I said to the team that we must look forward and focus on our opponent awaiting ahead of us. I don’t want to see my players shrink away during tomorrow’s match as a result of them being put under too much pressure more than necessary because of the situation our team is currently going through. You cannot play good soccer if you have unnecessary anxiety and doubt within you. Players always must play a match with a sense of pleasure and enjoyment and a strong desire to win. I am responsible with the result that follows. In the world of soccer, there is always a period when a team will go through some difficulties. However, we should never create an environment where players let themselves be negative more than necessary as a result.

My job over the past few days after the match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima was to remove fear and anxiety from our player. I have been working with our players so that they won’t come to the stadium feeling anxious and doubtful about their performance and wondering about their defeat during the match against FC Tokyo.
