Team Manager Hori and Player Lee attend an official interview session the day before the match against Kawasaki Frontale

An official AFC Champions League (ACL) 2017 pre-match interview session was held at the Todoroki Athletics Stadium on the 22nd of August ahead of the following day’s Quarter Final 1st Leg match against Kawasaki Frontale. Urawa Reds Team Manager Takafumi Hori and Player Tadanari Lee attended the interview session to express their excitement and determination for the upcoming match.

Comment from Team Manager Hori
Hello everyone. Kawasaki Frontale, our opponent for tomorrow’s match has won their recent three J. League matches in a row and has good momentum going for them. As such, I expect them to make fierce attacks against us tomorrow. As they are a very competent and powerful team, we are expecting a challenging match. However, we will show what we have prepared ourselves for in order to play a good match.

As the result from both our home and away matches will determine the overall result to qualify for the next round, we must put this into our consideration when we play the matches.

Our players have strong feelings for the ACL including Lee who is here with me today. For this reason, rather than instructing them to do too much, I trust them to play a dynamic match on the pitch tomorrow. Since we get to play the second leg match in our home stadium, we will try to play a good match tomorrow in order to give ourselves a good momentum for the second leg match.

Comment from Tadanari Lee
First of all, I would like to immerse myself in the joyous place of being amongst the ACL’s best eight teams when playing the match tomorrow. The fact that two Japanese teams will fight against each other as one of the best eight teams in Asia seems to have some significant meanings. As this is the case, we would like to play a good match that gives a sense of pleasure and inspiration to children not only in Japan but also in Asia. In addition, we certainly would like to score good points during tomorrow’s first leg match so that Urawa Reds can move up to the next round.
