After playing the match against Vissel Kobe-Team Manager Finke

Comment from Team Manager Volker Finke after playing in the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup qualifying round second sec against Vissel Kobe

In regards to the first half of the match, since we had different members in three or four positions this time, our players struggled to get into the match. For this reason, I can say that the change of members had an impact on some of our players’ performance. I mean at least for the first half of the match.
However, many things had improved during the second half of the match. I believe our players reacted correctly after our opponent scored the first goal. We were able to win in the end as we did and the team united to achieve their objective with a strong mentality. This is something I should acknowledge. I am so pleased with the fact that we were able to win the match as we did. It is necessary for us to have a winners’ mentality. What is important for us now is to work for our victories. Before the match, I was told that the Reds had not won even one game in Kobe over the past five years. But, we should not dwell on things like this.
I decided that I would use two young goal keepers namely Kato and Otani during the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup. I think the experience they will gain from playing in the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup will benefit them in the coming future. I am especially glad that Kato was able to block two penalty kicks today. He was in the “shadow” for a long time over the past six or seven years. I believe the match we had today must have brought tremendous pleasure to him.
However, the match we had today has finished. All we have to do from now is to prepare ourselves well for the upcoming weekend match against Kawasaki Frontale.
