Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Gamba Osaka

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 2015 Championship semi-final match against Gamba Osaka

I am sitting here in front of everyone for the post-match press conference again as the team manager of a defeated team after an important match.

Soccer is a very severe sport and a career in soccer is very demanding. In the field of competitive sport or soccer, only winning teams are acclaimed while defeated teams are not appraised. This is what soccer matches are all about and when they are featured in the media, while winners are praised, those who lose will never be in the spotlight. Losers won’t receive recognition and it is a characteristic of the game of soccer.

As our team lost today’s match, you have the right to write your articles as you like in the way you see it. However, I would like to comment on today’s match how I saw it as the team manager.

As for the first half of the match, both teams fought very hard and both teams countervailed each other. Our team made a mistake at the beginning of the second half and lost a goal against our opponent. As a result, we had to go aggressive to get the point back. From that point onwards, our team waged fantastic attacks against our opponent team. I thought our team made fierce attacks in many different combinations, which could have made us score some goals.

During extra time, our team made several attacks by leading the match many times. Looking at the overall match, I thought our team’s performance was more deserving of the victory. However, our team lost in the end.

Our team players fought in the match really well in order to win. I thought they gave their best to the match and I would like to very much commend their hard work during today’s match. I am feeling a little frustration for not having luck on our side.

Throughout the season, our players performed constantly well and they have played their style of soccer. I am very thankful for their hard work during today’s match and throughout the season as their team manager.
