Team Manager Mischa – press conference the day before the Emperor's Cup final match against Gamba Osaka

Comment from Team Manager Mischa the day before the 95th Emperor's Cup All Japan Football final match against Gamba Osaka

It is an honor for our club, players, fans and supporters to have us play in the final match on New Year’s Day. Both teams are leading teams in Japan. I am very pleased that we are able to play against each other in a match that can be regarded as a national derby. I expect that it won’t be easy and we will have a neck and neck match tomorrow.

As this will be the third match for both teams to play within one week, it will be physically very demanding for both of us. Over the past two days, we have concentrated our efforts on recovering our physical conditions to prepare for the match. I have also discussed repeatedly how we should tackle the next match during our meetings. I am confident that our players will be highly motivated and play the match with a strong determination to win.

When players are suffering from fatigue by playing a series of matches over a short period of time, the secret to winning lies in how quickly players can make crucial judgements and maintain their focus while running and playing. We will be united as a team with a strong determination to win in order to seize the cup title tomorrow.
