Pull up our socks for another away victory

Our 6th match of the J.League will be held at Tohoku Denryoku Stadium at 4 pm on 10th April.

We have won 2 consecutive games and our next opponent will be Albirex Niigata.

Albirex Niigata was off to a flying start season winning their first four games in 2009. However, this season has been totally different. Till now, they have played 5 league games and have yet to register any wins. Their result so far is 0 win, 3 draws and 2 losses. At the end of their last game, they found themselves at the bottom of the table.

Of course, goalkeeper Takaya Kurokawa’s injury in the 2nd match was a massive blow to Albirex but the main reason of their predicament is their inability to score.

They have not scored for 3 consecutive games and their goal tally is 2 goals in 5 games.

Their strong point is their defence. They have only conceded 5 goals in 5 games. Their supporters must be feeling frustrated that their attacking is not doing well.

However, M. Richardes, is a good playmaker and we must take note not to allow him too much free space. Also, Kisho Yano who was called up to play for Japan for the first time in many years will be feeling very motivated. His strong point is his speed and therefore we should not go into a tackle rashly and play the offside trap.

Our performance so far is 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. We have moved up to our current position of 4th in the table with 10 points. Team Manager Finke’s target to achieve “10 points in 5 games” has indeed been realised. This is one of the evidences that his 2nd year with Reds is moving in the right direction. He clearly stated that we have some achievement in his style of soccer, ball orientated soccer.

A player who is quintessential of Finke’s style of soccer is Yuki Abe. He has been in great form recently and was even called up for the national team like Yano. We can be sure to expect him to put up a great performance just like the previous game against Bellmare where he scored a direct free kick and made fast and penetrating runs towards goal from his defensive midfield position.

We have won the last 6 official games against Albirex. This suggests that Albirex is a “good” opponent for us. Apart from that, we also have some talented players. Right back Shunki Takahashi has been making remarkable progress. Yosuke Kashiwagi who plays in the midfield can contribute to the team with his tireless running. Ponte who has a great presence in the team is moving into higher gear. While the players review the points where more efforts are needed from the previous game against Bellmare, the supporters will provide the support to the players at the away game so as to win our 3rd consecutive game.
