Kashiwagi’s goal by free kick marked an important point-Team Manager Petrovic

Comment from Team Manager Petrovic the day after the Yamazaki Nabisco Cup 2nd Sec of 1st round match against Montedio Yamagata

Looking back at the match, I must say it was a difficult match. The team was not able to move the ball as we had wanted to. As a result, we were not able to deliver what we had promised to deliver. Some of our players were not able to display their true potential during the first half of the match. Our players were performing at 90 percent. However, after being psyched up during half time, all players started performing better. I hope that they had performed like that from the beginning of the match.
I told the team before the match that they should play the match as though the previous match ended with the result of 0 to 0 even though they had a two-point advantage by finishing the previous match by 2 to 0. While our team had several great combination plays, the team gave unnecessary scoring opportunities to the opponent team by allowing the ball to be under the opponent’s control unnecessarily. However, Yamagishi did well to block them scoring goals.
I am truly pleased that Kashiwagi scored a goal by his fantastic free kick and that Ranko also scored his first goal in the end. I think having Kashiwagi score the first goal by free kick was the most important key during the match.
