2011 J.League opens and we will do our 100 percent

The 19th J.League season will start this weekend. Reds’ will be playing against Vissel Kobe. The game will be held at Home’s Stadium Kobe at 1pm on 6th March.

During the last game of the 2010 season, Urawa Reds played against Vissel Kobe at Saitama Stadium and lost by a score line of 0-4. Urawa Reds was totally out played by Vissel Kobe who needed a miracle to avoid relegation to J2. Reds suffered the humiliation of being defeated.

Captain Keita Suzuki said “We totally lost to Vissel Kobe in the very last game of the season and were very frustrated. The opening game will be held at their home stadium and we will repay the debt.”

The passion that Suzuki is trying to show in his comment is something Team Manager Petrovic is looking for from the team. “Reds do not need players who cannot play 100%,” says Petrovic. The players under his tutelage are determined to play to win.

Vissel Kobe’s Team Manager, Masahiro Wada, who has been in charge of the team since last season managed to win the last 7 games of the 2010 season. This allowed the team to survive the drop and stay in J1. That suggests that their playing style will be tight in defence and swift in attack.

Urawa Reds cannot afford to lose the ball. If we lose the ball, we need to move fast to win back the ball. We need to win every second ball and work hard for 90 minutes. That is necessary for us at least.

More importantly, the players need to play according to the new style that Team Manager Petrovic has been promoting. That means the players have to change sides dynamically and attack from the wings to score. We need to score first and that will lead make the game easier for us.

It is exciting to see new players such as Marcio Richardes, Mazzolla and Mitsuru Nagata mixing together with the other players. The opening game is especially important and everyone hopes that Urawa Reds will win their first 3 points.
