We will continue to fight with our utmost efforts-Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the J. League 24th Sec match against Omiya Ardija

Our team started the match well and scored a goal to lead the match. Though our players created several scoring opportunities, unfortunately, they were not able to make the most of such opportunities well. What was worse, we were not able to block Omiya Ardija’s only attempt to score a goal. This was what happened during the first half of the match. The goal was scored while our team outnumbered the opponent team by one player. This was the only mistake we made today. The way we lost the goal ignited our opponent team and brought them back to life.

Since Omiya Ardija had one less player, I thought our team was able to make unilateral attacks on them during the second half of the match. By doing so, our team made several decisive opportunities. However, it was a pity that such attempts did not translate into another goal. Nonetheless, our players tried hard to win the match until the last moment.

Over the course of the match today, we were out of luck and the goal did not welcome our attempts. As a result, I am sure that not only our players but also the staff of the club, not to mention our supporters were all highly disappointed. However, we still remain as one of the higher ranking teams in the standings though we finished the match with a tied result today.

Therefore, I do not think it is necessary for us to be overly disappointed. After all, soccer is a sport. The result is not known until the end, no matter how much effort we put into the match. By looking at the overall performance of our players, I thought they put full stretch efforts into the match. I think we should change our attitude in this regard. It is necessary for us to stop dwelling on the past results more than necessary. People often forget how Urawa Reds was half a year ago.

I do not think there is any other team in Japan besides Urawa Reds which has developed this much over the last 24 Secs. After today’s match, we are still ranked high in the standings. Let alone, we still have a chance to win the title. There is no need for us to be negative more than necessary over the remaining 10 matches. All we have to do is to continue to fight through. Our players did their best to win the match today. It was unfortunate that the ball hit the goal post or the goal bar several times in their attempt to score another goal. Nonetheless, they fought through at full stretch until the very end. I would like to commend my players for their efforts. All we will do from now is to continue to fight with our utmost efforts. That is all.
