We played a typical cup match–Team Manager Mischa

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Emperor’s Cup second round match against Tochigi Uva FC

Today’s match turned out to be a typical cup match. We had a very good start and we did quite well in the second half as well. However, our team players started to lose momentum after a while as they led the game. We had some physical issues. When playing soccer, the number of times players can run back and forth on the pitch when switching between offense and defense moves holds the key to success. It is important for players to maintain a steady tempo throughout the 90 minutes of the match. I think this is the point to be addressed in Japanese soccer. In today’s match I used quite a few non first string players such as young players and those who do not play as regular members. As there is a clear difference between a practice match and an official match, they had to play with a greater sense of tension today. For this reason, today’s match gave us the opportunity to see what is lacking in us. We must reflect on our findings seriously and continue to train ourselves steadily from now on.
