Team Manager Tsuyoshi Otsuki – press conference after the match against Kawasaki Frontale

Comment from Team Manager Otsuki after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League 14th sec match against Kawasaki Frontale

Today’s match had both positive and negative sides following the change of team managers. The team almost had an air of resignation in the match which progressed with the result of 0 to 1 but didn’t give up on finishing the match with that result. I feel that we were in luck as we were able to draw the match at the very end. I hope the one point we gained today will lead to a big next step. The one point we scored today will give us a driving power for the upcoming break period.

Questions and Answers

Q: What do you think your team needs to do the most during the break period?

A: It has to be our tactical maneuvers. We will build on our tactics.

Q: You replaced two players relatively early into the second half of the match. Were there any difficulties for the team during the second half? Can you tell us what your intention was for the decision?

A: Though I don’t regard the amount of running necessarily to be the same as the amount of stamina, I thought our players were running more than our opponent members during the first half of the match. For this reason, I was thinking even before the match started that it would be necessary for us to make sure that the amount of physical movements required would be covered. As such, I replaced the players after the team as a whole started to suffer physically such as our ball possessions and making clear decisions started to drop off. As for Koroki, since he required ice on his knee, I hope he will recover well soon. It was good that I kept Koroki on the pitch for some time but I decided to replace him as the third player change towards the end of the match as I did.
