Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Matsumoto Yamaga F.C.

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 4th Sec match against Matsumoto Yamaga F.C.

I am very pleased that we had so many media reporters come to report on our match today. This may have been a reflection that our team was expected to play a very good match and achieve a surprising result today. We are happy that our match attracted so much media attention. However, the match unfolded to be quite close and it was not easy for us to bring you the nice surprise which might have been expected. As usual, today’s match was another very difficult one. The opponent teams we have recently played against have tried to provoke us to make some mistakes in defense and today’s opponent was no exception. However, our team was able to put pressure on our opponent team by controlling the match in a calm manner from the beginning of the match. Our team’s ball possession rate was quite high and we were able to create several good chances by moving the ball among us. I am pleased that Moriwaki’s kick luckily nailed the goal. Looking back at the overall match, I believe our team’s performance deserved the victory.
Having said that, the result of 1 to 0 shows how fiercely Matsumoto players played the match. The result reflects our opponent team’s good performance. Had I been the team manager of Matsumoto Yamaga F.C., they might have scored 7 or 8 goals. The fact that our team was not quite successful in making the most of the many scoring opportunities we created may attract some media coverage tomorrow. However, it was not easy to break free from their tight defense close to the goal area.
I think it is justified that our team won the match today despite these difficulties. Looking back at our record last year, our team lost a home match against Sagan Tosu with the result of 0 to 1. We lost the match as opponent team player Toyoda nailed one of few crossings and our team was not able to take advantage of the many opportunities we had created. Once a team loses a match, their players’ performance during the match won’t be appreciated. I would still be satisfied even if we had finished the match today with a draw result. We forged the match by not only controlling our opponent team but also managing our risks. There were some moments when our team was able to break our opponent team’s defense as we had intended to. I think our team had a very good match by controlling it from the beginning to the end. I would still value our team’s good performance today even if they hadn’t won the match. I trust that our supporters who came to see us in the stadium were also satisfied by our players’ performance who played very aggressively from the get-go.
