Team Manager Mischa - press conference after the match against Albirex Niigata

Comment from Team Manager Mischa after the Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company J. League 1st Stage 12th Sec match against Albirex Niigata

Despite our full steam efforts to achieve a victorious result, we finished the match with a draw of 0 to 0 today. Obviously, I am not pleased with this result. Our players made a few easy mistakes and made very few sprints to the back space. Our opponent team positioned themselves to mark our sides with a 5 back formation. As for the center with three on three, I believe our players had chances to wave their way around vertically. Though they tried to execute combination plays when they had the ball, they were not quite able to sprint to the back space. Our players pulled out combination plays in front of their opponent’s defense many times. As a result of lacking in sharp moves such as sprinting into back spaces and leaving our opponents behind while executing combination plays, our players were not able to translate our ideas into real actions.

It is also important that our players are able to ward off our opponent players when dribbling the ball one on one. It was great that our team got a penalty kick when Shinzo Koroki waged a dribbling attack. I think it was necessary for us to execute similar moves throughout the match today. As our team was not so quick and aggressive in switching their moves from offense to defense after they lost the ball, our players allowed our opponent to execute counter attacks against us.

We finished the match today with the result of 0 to 0. It is difficult to win every match with a same consistent result. After all, our team had managed to score a point by drawing the match today. Over the long course of the season, a team may have a match like we had today. I thought our team controlled the ball more than our opponent during the match but I am afraid that they made the match difficult by themselves. When this happened in the past, they would have lost the match as a result. However, this didn’t happen today. For this reason, I would like to regard today’s result something rather positive.
