Press conference after the match against Al Hilal SFC

Comment from Team Manager Tsuyoshi Otsuki after the AFC Champions League 2019 Final 1st Leg Match against Al Hilal SFC
We finished playing the first leg of the final but we have the second leg match to play in Saitama Stadium in two weeks. We want to prepare ourselves really well for the match.

Questions and Answers

Q: Did Urawa Reds have to play a more defensive match than the team had originally anticipated today? Al Hilal also seemed to have had some difficult time not being able to make use of the few opportunities they created.

A: We finished the match with the result of 0 to 1

Q: Apart from the result of the match, how would you evaluate your team’s performance level during today’s match?

A: I thought our team set a clear goal and finished the game well. We achieved a realistic result today, which would allow us to play well back in Saitama Stadium. That’s how I feel.

Q: Could you please tell us about your impression of Al Hilal? Was there performance more than you had expected?

A: I regard them an excellent team. After having played against them, I feel they are still a great team. I knew they are a good team before our team played against them.

Q: Goalkeeper Fukushima managed to keep the goal apart from one goal he missed today. How would you evaluate his performance?

A: As you witnessed, he saved a number of attempts from Al Hilal today. Though it was very disappointing that we lost the match with the result of 0 to 1, I thought his performance was really good today.

Q: Looking at the stats of the match, Al Hilal’s ball possession rate was about 73 percent. As for Japanese soccer in general, teams usually play in a more controlled manner with a much lower possession rate. What do you think about these figures?

A: I want to increase our figure more in the second leg match.
