After playing the match against Shimizu S-Pulse-Team Manager Finke

Comment from Team Manager Volker Finke after playing in the J. League Twentieth Sec. against Shimizu S-Pulse
Some people might find it strange that I was not necessarily discontented with the match we played today. Certainly it was regrettable that we lost the match today.
I am fully aware of the fact that what counts is a good result in soccer. As a matter of fact, we are actually in a difficult situation right now. It is certainly necessary for us to analyze why we have not been able to score goals over the past few matches. However, please try to see the path we are trying to take since this year. I do think that we are moving forward in the right direction. I think we were able to create several decisive scoring opportunities during today’s match.
We will now have our mid-term break. Honestly speaking, I guess the break period we will have will pass in no time. Nonetheless, I am very pleased to have this break period. This is because we have many players who are exhausted. To be honest, it would have been better if we had our two weeks break two weeks earlier. We had such a tough schedule. We had to play a few matches in a row several times. We had to play three matches within only eight days of each other several times. For this reason, players had been extremely worn out. As a result many players were not able to perform as well as they normally do.
If today’s match had been held six weeks ago, I am certain that some players were able to score one or two goals. However, they were not able to score goals today in the end. “If you can not score goals, you can not win a match.” And, this says it all about today’s match.
We will have medical checks over the next three days. By having these check-ups, I can assess the physical condition of each player. I would like to put the right amount of burden on my players based on the results.
But, as it is necessary for players to recover themselves by having some time off as they expect, I will give all the players complete days off for a few days after their physical check-up. I would like them to recover not only their physical conditions but also their mental side as well so that we can start working on our team training again. We would like to get ourselves ready for the away match against Gamba Osaka in as best condition as possible.
We certainly understand that our fans and supporters are disappointed. But, please do not forget the path we are trying to take. It is very unfortunate that we were not able to score goals in a match like we played today. However, because of the new path we are moving forward along right now, some players have made so much effort that they wore themselves out badly. I would like you to understand that many of the players need time to recover themselves as a result. Having said all this, I would still like our players to continue to move forward along the path they are on at the moment.
