After playing the match against Kyoto Sanga F.C.-Team Manager Finke

Comment from Team Manager Volker Finke after playing in the J. League Thirtieth Sec. against Kyoto Sanga F.C.

I am truly happy that I was able to gain positive result with my players today. We have received a lot of criticisms about the past three matches we had. To be honest with you, some of the criticisms we received were quite harsh. Indeed, we were not able to achieve positive results as we had too many injured players. However, having said that, our team performed well enough to the point where it was quite plausible for the team to even win at least two matches they played over that period. For this reason, I thought it was not necessary for my team players to feel ashamed of themselves even when they lost the past three matches in a row. Winning the match today will boost the players’ confidence again.
Hosogai did not join the team in today’s match due to his injury. Nonetheless, all of the players who were on the pitch played in the match with strong confidence. I thought young players in particular showed their confidence though their performance. Okamoto was very confident, not to mention Shunki Takahashi. I think today’s match had proven that they are developing themselves in the right direction. I was also very pleased about the fact that Robson Ponte out performed himself. Despite the fact that he was away for a long time due to his injury, he made a come back to play in the team in the last 10 minutes and scored a very important goal.
Emperor’s Cup we will play next will be of extreme importance to us. For this reason, I was really hoping to win the match we had today so that our players would regain their confidence and strong mentality for the Emperor’s Cup match we will have on Wednesday.
