Comment of the Gert Engels(Team-Manager)
“We had such a good start. We were obviously aware of the fact that we had to win this game. As this was the game played at our home ground, by paying close attention to the defense players, I wanted to put pressure on the opponent from the beginning of the game. I believe we were able to do so. Right after 40 seconds into the game, the first delivery was attempted. Since then, our players created several good opportunities around the opponent’s goal. However, there were moments where we felt rushed. But, even under such circumstances, Tsuzuki saved the goal fantastically when there was a first good opportunity for the opponent team to strike a goal. If we had conceded this goal, the result would have been 0 to 1. Since then, we managed to push through and were able to play the game at our own pace. When this was the case, Soma scored a fantastic goal. During half-time, I told the team not to rush. We started the second half of the game slower than we did in the first half. But in terms of control over the game, we did better in the second half. By controlling our game, we aimed for a counter attack. We scored another goal from a set piece. When we got the score of 2 to 1, I did not think we had won the game yet but I knew we were doing alright. Perhaps, our players felt the same way I did. However, as our opponent put more players in the attacking position, there were a few dangerous moments in front of our goal. However, these moments happened only at the very end of the game and even though we could not score any more goals unfortunately, we had a few counter attack moments. Therefore, we both played really well today. I am very much pleased that our team made it to the best 4 of Asia. The atmosphere at the stadium was also fantastic. It definitely had the atmosphere of “the home ground of the champions”. I must also thank our players for hanging tough despite the fact that they have been playing many games in a row at the moment. They did so well and I would like to say thank you to all of them.”
