Hidano and Sato appointed as one-day police chiefs

On the 10th, Renji Hidano and Ryusei Sato were appointed as honorary police chiefs for a day at Urawa Police Station and participated in public awareness activities aimed at preventing special fraud.
Urawa Reds signed an agreement with Saitama Prefecture and the Saitama Prefectural Police in January 2025 regarding "community development focused on crime prevention," and has been conducting social contribution activities aimed at realizing a safe and secure society in its hometown, including raising awareness about local crime prevention. This activity was carried out as part of those efforts.

First, an appointment ceremony was held at the Urawa Police Station, where both players, dressed in police uniforms, were appointed as honorary police chiefs for the day.

Next, they moved to the east exit of Urawa Station, where a public relations campaign to prevent special fraud was held, aimed at promoting the use of an app recommended by the National Police Agency. At the start of the campaign, an official from the Saitama Prefectural Police Headquarters explained the current situation of special fraud in the prefecture, recent methods used, and the effectiveness of the app recommended by the National Police Agency. After that, the two players, who were appointed as honorary police chiefs for the day, expressed their enthusiasm for preventing special fraud. Hidano said, "I use the app myself. It's free and easy to download, so I hope many people will use it." When asked about his feelings about wearing the uniform, Sato said, "I feel a sense of responsibility participating in this activity. I want to make sure I make a strong appeal so that it will lead to the prevention of fraud."

Afterward, the two players distributed awareness materials to station users, urging them to take precautions against special fraud and encouraging many people to use apps to raise their crime prevention awareness. They also interacted with many users, fans, and supporters while distributing the materials, concluding their duties as honorary police chiefs for the day.

"Serving as a one-day police chief was a valuable opportunity to reflect once again on the issue of special fraud. I learned from the police that not only the elderly but also younger generations are becoming victims, and I felt that I myself need to pay more attention to this issue."
The app recommended by the National Police Agency is free and easy to download, so I hope you'll start with these readily available measures. Also, if you have even the slightest suspicion that something might be a scam, please don't make a decision on your own; consult with those around you.
Wearing a police officer's uniform made me feel the weight of responsibility, and being able to interact with the local community while working was a very valuable experience."

[Ryusei Sato]
"I was given the invaluable opportunity to serve as a one-day police chief, and I participated in the activities with a great sense of responsibility. It was a very meaningful time, as I was able to directly interact with the local community and call for the prevention of special fraud."
Through this campaign, I hope that as many people as possible will become interested in preventing special fraud, and I would also be happy if this activity sparks their interest in Urawa Reds and soccer in general.
We will continue to cherish our connections with the local community and engage in activities that contribute to our hometown."
