西川周作 J1リーグ通算600試合出場達成!!
Today, May 6th (Monday, a holiday), in the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 12 match against Yokohama F・Marinos, Shusaku Nishikawa started and achieved his 600th appearance in the J1 League.
He is just the third player in J.League history to achieve 600 appearances in total, and the first Urawa Reds player to achieve this feat. This will be a great achievement that will be engraved in the history of Japanese soccer.
In 2005, he was promoted to the first team from Oita Trinita U-18 and began his career as a professional soccer player, and made his professional debut on July 2nd of the same year, against Yokohama F・Marinos, coincidentally the same team he played his 600th J1 League match against.
In 2010, he made a permanent transfer to Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and contributed to Hiroshima's consecutive J1 League victories in 2012 and 2013. He was selected for the J.League Best 11 that same year, and joined Urawa Reds on a permanent transfer in 2014.
This season marks Nishikawa's 20th year as a professional and his 11th season with Urawa Reds. As the "guardian deity of Urawa," he has played a total of 347 games in the J1 League for Urawa Reds so far.
During that time, he has contributed to the team's nine major title wins and has been named to the J.League Best 11 in 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2023 (a total of six times).
Nishikawa has also played in all 12 league games so far this season. He will turn 38 on June 18, 2024, but he is still full of ambition and continues to grow.
The "Guardian of Urawa" who supports the team from the back of the pitch will continue to walk with Urawa Reds and make history. Please look forward to Nishikawa's continued success.
