“I want to keep fighting with the hope of winning” Maciej Skorza (regular press conference 8/16)

On March 16, Maciej Skorza director held a press conference online and expressed his enthusiasm for the Meiji Yasuda Seimei J1 League No. 24 Nagoya Grampus match to be held at Saitama Stadium on March 18.

(We are on a four-game winless streak, but I don't think it is the first time Maciej that a coach has gone through a period without a win. Do you think it is better to be calm and composed in such a situation? Or are you the type who thinks it's better to make changes to the team?)
'I think it is important to first find out why we are not performing well. The results are far from our expectations. We also have a situation where we are not able to maintain a high level of performance. Comparing these two games, they are two completely different games. I think we have to keep things calm, but we have told them what we need to improve. And I expect that we can do that better in the next game.

I think it is a different task to choose the members of the team with Nagoya in mind. We are analyzing the performance of our players in the three games after the summer break, analyzing the performance of the so-called subs in practice, and analyzing the content of the practice game we had the day of the Hiroshima game. We also had a practice match on the day of the Hiroshima game, so we will be analyzing the results of that game as well.

(I think it is true that the number of goals scored during the season as a whole is low. I don't think you have a team with strikers who are interested in nothing but scoring goals, but what things need to be solved to enable the team as a whole to score more goals? We don't have much time, but should we add players to the team who specialize in scoring goals?)
I think it is important to think first about the players who are here now and to improve their overall performance. I think we created good chances against (Yokohama F.) Marinos. I think the decision-making rate at the end was low. And you mentioned that there is no type of player who plays only to score goals, but I want to concentrate on the players we have now.

(I spoke to Ken Iwao players after the previous game against Sanfrecce Hiroshima and they said, "We have a solid place to go back to and it has been presented to us. I think the last two games have been different types of games from before the interruption, what are the places to go back to and what will be important for the team for the next games?)
'There is a strength in this team that we have shown many times this season, and that is our defense. It is a very cohesive defense and a very strong high press. We need to continue to show these things, but we have not been able to do so in some games. Also, in the high temperature environment, we have changed the content of our preparation practices for the games accordingly. I think there are a lot of different factors, but I believe we can improve in many ways."

(Isn't your next opponent, Nagoya, a different type of team from both Yokohama F. Marinos and Hiroshima, making it difficult to apply the lessons learned as is?)
(Isn't the next opponent, Nagoya, a different type of team from both and Hiroshima, making it difficult to apply the lessons learned to them? This is one of the problems we are having this season. In home games, I think we are playing with a high level of confidence and intensity. However, I don't think we have been able to show that in away games. Yokohama F. Marinos After the game, I talked with the coaching staff about the good direction we were heading in, and I expected us to take another step forward in the next game, but in the Hiroshima game, the intensity dropped after 30 minutes and the team rules were a bit disorganized. We still have 33 points left in the J1 League, so we will continue to work even harder in the future. We still have 33 points left in the J1 League, so we want to continue to work even harder in the future. We have a lot of work to do."

(You mentioned that there is a difference in level between home games and away games. Maciej What do you think is the main reason for this?)
A good question. We are thinking about it right now, and I think there are a lot of factors. I think the mental aspect is important. If you compare our last two away games, against Nagoya and Hiroshima, we had a similar flow. We had a very good start and created chances, but after the opponents made the decisive goal, the team seemed to lose a little confidence. Some of our players are quite young, but they are experienced in this kind of situation, so we have to manage them well.

(You are nine points behind the leader, how do you feel from the viewpoint of the championship?)
(How do you feel from the viewpoint of the championship?) "It's been two weeks since the interruption, and we are worse off than we were at the beginning of the interruption in terms of points, but we will continue to fight with the hope of winning the championship, thinking about getting three points in the next game. We will continue to fight with hope for the championship, thinking that we will take three points in the next game.

(I think the first half against Hiroshima was not bad, but I think the reason for that was the good relationship between Jose Kante and Takahiro Akimoto players. Did you find any solutions for the future from their relationship?)
'If we try to find something good about the last game, I think one of the first things is Kante's performance. He is getting better with each game he plays. Another good news is that Akimoto is back from injury and ready to play. He was an important player even before his injury, and it is great to have him back. Against Hiroshima, we used him as a winger for tactical reasons, and I think he did very well. His role was to play in the shadow position in the build-up, and I think he executed it well.

(The relationship between the two would be interesting in any system, but Akemoto played as a FW on Tochigi SC and had experience in a sort of two-top formation. I think Kante is also a player who functions more as a 2-top than a 1-top. He has played as a 2-top in the past, but do you have any plans to introduce this in the future?)
Jose's performance shows when he has supporting players nearby. I think this can be done in a two-top formation, or with a top player close by, or with a winger inside, as Akemoto did in the game against Hiroshima. Jose has the ability to play in an organized manner. With that in mind, I hope Shoya Nakajima can get a starting spot soon. A combination of these two could be interesting."

(Nagoya will be a different team from the Emperor's Cup with no Kasper Aalund Junker player and no Mateus Castro, what is your impression? And what do you think will be the important points of the match?)
Nagoya may have Nagai (Kensuke), who did not play in the Emperor's Cup, and newcomer Morishima (Tsukasa) in the starting lineup, but they will be different types of players from those who played in the last game. However, I don't think our style as a team will change much. We want to play the way we always show in our home games, which is to press high and push hard.

(After the Emperor's Cup match against Nagoya, there was a dispute between fans and supporters, so the match on the 18th will be a true test of value in many ways, won't it?)
) "I will concentrate on improving my performance on the pitch."

(Nakajima has gradually increased his playing time in the last two games, but how do you evaluate his performance?)
(Nakajima has played a little more in the last two games, but what did you make of his performance? He can hold the ball when the team needs it, and I think he tried to pass the ball, but the physical aspect of his game is still not completely ready. That is something I have to wait patiently for, but he is a different top player than the ones we have had in the past. So I think he will give us a lot of options up front.
