The team fought throughout the match with great mental strength-Team Manager Petrovic

Comment from Team Manager Petrovic after the J. League 27th Sec match against Kashima Antlers

The match we played today had such an important significance to us. I thought the match was also filled with a great sense of tension.
Unfortunately, our team gave two big scoring opportunities to Kashima Antlers during the first twenty minutes of the match because of minor mistakes we made. However, our team managed to contain the difficult times. After that, Naoki ran out from the counter. I would like to refrain from making comments whether it was a penalty kick moment or not.
At the end of the first half of the match, we were blessed with one big opportunity. It was great to see each of our players played with such great mental strength by facing such an opportunity. Obviously, it is difficult to avoid little mistakes and misunderstandings. Nonetheless, it was great that I was able to see our players trying their best for the team by showing their strong mentality.
For example, Noda had to play in the left side back position without having been given any prior notice. But, he played well in the new position by displaying great mental strength. Players such as Shuto Kojima and Yosuke Kashiwagi took leadership to lead the team forward. I thought not only these players but also many young players played so well today.
I am very glad that our team was able to play the way they did today against one of the best teams in the J. League which has one of the best forward players in the league. It is certainly very difficult to win against Kashima Antlers in their home ground. Nagoya Grampus played a very tough match against Kashima Antlers and ended up with a draw during the previous match. Considering such a background, it may be fair to say we achieved a meaningful result though the match was a draw.
