Sakai: “It’s important to keep the vector pointed towards us and win well.”
On the 10th, after the match against Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo in Round 3 of the Meiji Yasuda J1 League, captain Hiroki Sakai spoke about his impressions of the team's first win of the season and his winning goal.
(Isn't it special to win the season for the first time?)
"Yes, you're right. Especially since I let you down last time, you came all the way to Sapporo this time, and I'm glad we could share the victory together."

"Last year's game against Cerezo (Osaka) was like that. We were finally able to get the win in the third game, so we'll start from here. I think we took the first step."
(Was the set piece that led to the goal designed or prepared?)
``There were several designs, but they said it would be fine if a short corner could be created.I hadn't seen it at first, so I felt like it had already started.After that, I realized that there was a lot of empty space over there. I was watching and a good ball came."
(Did you jump in because there was an empty space, thinking you were the target?)

(What about finishing without conceding a goal?)
“This is a very important result for the defense team.Assuming there will be a large number of games, this is a game where we should have scored the second goal, so we will play the game so that we can score two points and play the remaining 20 minutes. Ideally, that's what we're trying to do this year. However, for today, it was important to win. I'm sure everyone has their own thoughts on the content, and the players are also convinced and satisfied. We haven't. We are still in a state of great development. However, establishing a style means that everyone is thinking while playing, so there are sacrifices like this. None of us are playing comfortably, so... We are in a situation where we have to work hard and have to wait until we can play comfortably.
