Sekine: “I know best that I won’t be able to stay at this club for long if I don’t produce results.”
On the 24th, after the Meiji Yasuda J1 League Round 18 match against Kawasaki Frontale [MATCH PARTNER Mitsubishi Heavy Industries], Takahiro Sekine talked about his impressions of his first goal of the season and his enthusiasm for the future.
(It was the first goal of the season, but did you look at the goal calmly after trapping?)
“The ball that was headed by the goalkeeper was spilling over to me, but in such a scene, I think that there are times when I was unexpectedly rushed and kicked it with one touch, or the trap was disturbed, but I was able to calmly trap it. However, I think it's all about putting the ball where I can kick it with two touches."
(Naoto Kamifukumoto is the type of GK who goes forward, but if there is such a scene, did the team have an intention to actively target him?)
“We didn’t talk about that in meetings or anything like that, but I think everyone was thinking about it, and we thought that the ball we stole would be a chance. I think we were well prepared.”
(I couldn't see it because I was surrounded by teammates right after I decided, but what kind of expression did you have?)
“I was also fluffy.
(Isn't it typical of Sekine when he made a feint just before the end of the second half and aimed a shot at the near side?)
“My body was light, and there were many scenes where I was heading for the goal.
(Wouldn't it have been a waste to get 1 point even though one opponent had left the field and had a numerical advantage?)
“I don’t think it’s a waste, and there were many occasions where we scored goals, so it would have been better if we could have scored.
(I think the goal scene was a rare scene in life, but was it a super goal comparable to the 2016 match against Sanfrecce Hiroshima?)
“I am honestly happy that I scored a goal, and I think that my play after that has clearly changed, and I have more scenes to go forward.
(Longest career goal?)
“I think it was the longest. It took a long time after I took the shot. However, the ball doesn’t bounce at Saitama Stadium, so I thought it would definitely go in.
(Do you want to keep scoring goals from here?)
"I don't have many assists, and I'm trying to help the team in places where it's hard to see, but I know that I can't stay at this club for a long time if I don't leave it as a result. In that sense, I would like to build on it.”
(Is today's goal likely to be one of those triggers?)
“I think I have to use it as an opportunity. The reality is that we haven't been able to get it, so if we keep the numbers there, I think it will be recognized."
