Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "After Trial, I still don't understand why we lost today, but realistically we lost.
From what I saw, we controlled the game well from the start and scored the opening goal in good form. I think it was a goal we deserved to score, and I think we started the game very calmly and well.
If we had been able to maintain our lead for a little longer, I think Trial might have turned out differently, but unfortunately we conceded a goal from a free kick in an unfortunate way. And the second goal was also scored directly from the free kick.
However, we created many good attacking opportunities, took control of the game, created dangerous attacking opportunities, and created many chances. I think we had more free kicks in dangerous positions than our opponents.
I've been working in this field for a long time, so I've seen games like this before. We lost, but there's no need to be pessimistic about the football we're playing. The players are very sad and disappointed. However, I don't think we need to look down. Although we lost in the end, I would like to tell the players that there's no need to be.
Today's game was very calm, especially in the second half. I think we were able to create some decisive moments from our calm combinations. It's not easy to break down the opponent's defense with 10 men in their own half, but we were able to show some of those opportunities. There were some decisive moments, but we couldn't score into an empty goal. That's what football is all about, and Urawa Reds played a great game.
I think not only the Urawa fans, but also the Kawasaki fans felt the same way. Urawa Reds are definitely moving in the right direction. And they are definitely heading towards the right future. Today I was convinced of that.
I am disappointed with the result, but I also enjoyed the performances the players showed in the Trial. Of course, the percentage of opportunities we take is an issue we have had up until now, but we will work hard to improve that. And we will increase the percentage of opportunities we take.”
Opponent team comment
Yahiro Kazama
(Head Coach)
- “The wait was so long that I forgot about it (laughs). Actually, it wasn’t a very good game, but each of us fought hard, and each one of us played soccer for 90 minutes. I'm glad that we've become a team.I've always been eager to have someone who can score points today, so I think that's what will lead to the next game."
