Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "Japan's leading journalists were all here today, so I think we would have been criticized if we had lost (laughs). But we were lucky today. After our 0-5 defeat at home to Gamba last week, people watching the game may have thought that Urawa was about to drop off. In that sense, today's Trial was a game in which we had to prove that we were a strong team.
We have played 27 rounds so far and have become a solid team. I think that has been shown in the games so far. We have lost some games so far, but we have come back even stronger after that. I think that we have proven our strength and quality.
Today's game was a great one, with both Urawa and Kashiwa playing a great Trial. Both teams had a lot of energy and the fight for the ball was intense, and both teams had chances. Why were we able to win this game? I think it was because we took more risks in our attacks than our opponents in the second half. I think the opponents were aiming to counterattack after receiving our attacks. We took more risks in our attacks, and we won in that way in the second half, but looking at the content, I think it was a game we deserved to win.
We were lucky to score a goal at the very end, but I think it was the fact that we took more risks and attacked that ultimately gave us the victory. Of course, we were able to win this game thanks to the support of our fans. Today we were playing away, but so many fans came out to support us as if we were at home. Only Urawa Reds have that. It may be a short period, but I think it is important for Japanese soccer that our team is currently competing at the top of the league. We have so many supporters on our side. I think it is important and necessary for Japanese soccer that a club with such a large fanbase is competing at the top of the league."
Opponent team comment
Nelsinho
(Head Coach)
- "There were periods when both teams attacked the other team's territory and had possession, but it was a game that emphasized counterattacks, with both teams holding their own in their own territory and then counterattacking, and I think that was the pace of the game.
Our players thought hard and fought to their best in each situation, but the difference was that we made many mistakes on final shots in front of the goal when we had chances on the counter.
I believe the last goal we conceded was an accident, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a goal conceded from a counter attack."
