Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "We Trial the first half in good form and scored a goal to take a 1-0 lead.
In the first half, we had many chances to score a second goal, but unfortunately we couldn't convert them. The only shot from the opponent was a goal in the first half. We conceded a goal while the opponent was one man down, but that was our only mistake today. Conceding a goal in that situation allowed the opponent to come back to life.
With the opponent being one man down, I think the second half was a one-sided attack on the opponent's goal. There were some decisive moments, but unfortunately the Trial was against us today. Of course, I think the players fought to win until the end.
However, in today's Trial, we were unlucky, or rather, we were hindered by the goal. I think that the players, the club staff, and the supporters who watched the game are all very disappointed with this result, but even though we drew, we are fighting for the top spot.
I don't think there's any need to be too disappointed. Soccer is a sport. You don't know what the outcome will be until it's over, even if you've played your best.
However, as far as I can see from today's game, the players fought with all their might. We have to change that aspect as Urawa Reds. We have to change from being too disappointed with the results. People who watch the team tend to quickly forget how Urawa Reds were five or six months ago.
There should be no team in Japan that has grown this much in the 24 rounds we have played. Even with today's Trial, we are still fighting for the top spot. And we still have a chance to take the top spot. With 10 Trial left, we don't need to look down more than necessary. Anyway, we just need to keep fighting. In today's game, the players fought with all their might to win. Unfortunately, there were many scenes where the ball hit the post or the bar, but the players still fought to win until the end.
I want to praise the players and we will continue to play hard and fight, that's it."

(Head Coach)
- "If you had asked me before today's Trial if one point was enough, I might have answered that it was, but if you asked me after Trial if I was satisfied with one point, I would have nodded and said, of course I am satisfied.
We were down a man and had three shots that hit the post, and Urawa had many more chances, but we were very lucky to get a point. We showed a fighting spirit and were able to keep the ball.
Unfortunately, we didn't have many big chances, but I think that's how it is in soccer sometimes. At halftime, we focused on clarifying the roles of each player. In defense, the defensive players did not remain on the last line, and each player grabbed the opponent. The midfielders did not change their shape much, just like in the 11 vs 11 game. I think that by doing so, we were able to reduce the opponent's decisive chances.
In addition, when we were on the offensive, we had to keep the ball well, and even if it took time, we would get closer to the opponent's goal, which would force them to run and mark our players. Urawa was not very aggressive in one-on-one situations in defense, so that worked well. We were able to keep the ball well. Despite being one man down, the players fought well and we got a big point, and I think we played in a way that deserved that point."
