Trial-match comments
Mihailo Petrovic
(Head Coach)
- "Kashima is a very good team. For me, they are one of the best teams in the J1 League. Looking at today's game as a whole, I think it went in a similar way to the match against FC Tokyo. If there is a difference, it is that we were able to win today's game.
I think the players learned a little from the match against FC Tokyo and were able to defend well. In today's game and the previous game, we were able to see the situation clearly. Overall, as long as we were able to maintain our momentum, I think we have become the most dangerous team offensively in the last six months.
In the match against FC Tokyo and today's match against Kashima, I think the opponents were unable to stop us in the first half, and we did a good job of containing the opponents in defence. What these results show is that as long as we are able to run a lot, we can play a very good game.
Over the past six months, we have been playing better games in each Trial, and we have been able to attack with a variety of variations. Whether it be a combination of one striker, two shadow strikers, or a side change after a wedge ball, or a shot aimed at the back, we have been able to approach the opponent's goal dangerously.
And we've also gotten a lot better at controlling the tempo of Trial. When we steal the ball from the opponent, we launch an attack quickly, or when the opponent retreats, we launch a slow attack, maintaining possession and launching a slow attack. We've also gotten a lot better at controlling the tempo.
There is a problem only with the amount of exercise, and as a manager, I am thinking about two problems. One is that the same 11 or 12 players are always playing throughout the 22 matches, and the other is that playing in the extremely hot and harsh conditions of summer is a huge burden on the players.
Now, we are playing a different style of soccer than before. For example, libero Nagata has to carry the ball and launch attacks. If the ball is stolen, he has to retreat. I don't think there was such a burden before, and many players have a new burden like that. I think that the players' bodies are not used to the amount of movement when playing soccer. These are things that they didn't have before, and I think that leads to a burden on the players.
Previously, Urawa's fighting style was to gather players with high individual abilities and fight by making use of them. Now, we are striving to fight as a team collectively. Such things are not acquired overnight, but take time. I believe that such things will definitely improve over time. I am proud to be able to coach such players.
Last season, the team was fighting against relegation, but until the 22nd round, they are in third and fourth Pos and looking to move up the ranks. I personally think that the game and hard work they showed is worthy of respect. Today, 44,000 supporters came to the stadium. I am happy that we were able to show such great football to those supporters, and I would like to praise the players who worked so hard. Of course, there will be ups and downs as we fight in the future, but I think we are definitely on the right path. As for what we will do in the future, it is to work hard. Hard, training, training, training. Always working hard. That will lead to future growth.
We will continue to play Trial Trial with care, and from tomorrow we will switch our mindset and do our best for the Shimizu match. I'm happy about the three points we got today."
Opponent team comment
Jorginho
(Head Coach)
- "First of all, I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to everyone who watched the game. I am particularly sorry for the ugly spectacle that was presented to everyone watching on television. I sometimes watch Trial on television myself, and I think that such scenes are extremely unsightly and are a very bad part of the spectacle.
However, there are factors that cause this to happen, and I am a human being, and blood flows through my body, so there are times when other factors cause my blood flow to increase. I think this happens to everyone too. However, I am sorry for my unfortunate behavior."
