Trial-match comments
Volker Finke
(Head Coach)
- "We had a lot of injured players, and in fact, several players who hadn't fully recovered from their injuries were on the team, but I think we were still able to put on a solid Trial today."
In particular, this "fighting spirit" is something we wanted to show our fans and supporters as a team, and I think the players who were on the pitch today were able to put that into practice. As a result, I believe our victory today was a deserved outcome.
Regarding the first half, I believe we didn't allow the opposing team many scoring opportunities. However, it's also true that we didn't create many scoring opportunities ourselves. After halftime, I think we were able to improve our play overall. Right at the start of the second half, we were able to create some very good scoring opportunities ourselves. And considering our play during that period, I think it was fair that we scored the first goal.
After that, it became 10 against 11, but even in that situation, our strategy was clear. We decided to play with a '4-4-1' system, and if we could win the ball back as much as possible, we would try to keep possession for as long as possible."
Opponent team comment
Hiroshi Jofuku
(Head Coach)
- "It's extremely disappointing that we couldn't get the result despite so many fans coming to Ajinomoto Stadium. This is a very frustrating loss."
Looking back on the game calmly, I think only the five minutes or so when we conceded goals were a game we deserved to lose. The remaining 85 minutes were a game that was difficult to accept. Ideally, I would have liked to play 11 against 11, and if that had been the case, I think we could have played a head-to-head 11-on-11 Trial without feeling stressed or frustrated by the refereeing.
However, a loss is a loss. A loss is a loss, and there's no doubt that a loss is a loss. The fact remains that we kept missing scoring opportunities and allowed the opponent to score one goal, so we will accept this honestly and aim to win all three remaining J.League Trial. We truly regret that so many fans came out to support us, even though it was a home game, as Urawa Reds fans kept singing along. It was nothing short of humiliating to have them sing like that. I believe the only thing we can do now is to finish higher in the annual Pos than Urawa Reds."
