Trial-match comments

Volker Finke

(Head Coach)

"After playing a poor Trial like last weekend's match against Yokohama, I think it's important for the team to show a strong reaction. By 'reacting the following week' I don't necessarily mean just winning. I think what's important is playing very good 'good football'. And I think we were able to see some areas where we've made some great improvements in today's Trial. So, compared to last weekend, I think our team showed a very good reaction and played good football today.
In the second half, I think the opposing team had some chances to score. We gave them two or three chances due to our marking mistakes or some unstable defensive movements, but compared to the last match against Yokohama, we were able to reduce our defensive mistakes this time and improve in some areas. However, we must not forget that this is a process. Our young players may still make mistakes in the future. However, we must understand that this is part of the process. In fact, in today's scoring scenes and other scoring chances, I think we played well and created good chances.
And another thing, today on the stage of the J-League, three 18-year-old players started and showed great performances. Of course, using young players like this does not necessarily lead to short-term success, but still, in the mid-term and long-term, I think it is sending a very good signal for our future.
And in the world of soccer, there is a tendency to "want to see new faces" and "want to see new superstars," so I want to tell you all this with a sense of humor. Please don't take it too seriously (laughs). However, I think Hosogai did a very valuable job for the team in today's Trial. Of course, there were other players who did valuable jobs for the team, but today I want to praise Hosogai in particular. What I want to tell you now is that even a player who plays in a defensive midfielder position like that can fill the gap left by a superstar."

Opponent team comment

Caio Junior

(Head Coach)

"It was a very interesting Trial, and although we lost, it was a 50-50 Trial, and we fought hard. The same thing happened as in the last match against Hiroshima, where we conceded goals at the start and end of the first half. We conceded goals at times when we shouldn't have conceded them, and that made it difficult for us to play Trial.
In our last match against Hiroshima, we conceded two goals in the first half in a similar fashion, but the team rallied early in the second half and the players reacted well to score three goals. However, it wasn't the same story in this Trial, and we struggled to find the back of Trial net.
In the second half, after about 15 minutes, we brought on Kazuki Ganaha and Botti, and they were playing really well and creating some chances. Then Yuki Kishida came on as a substitute, and we were able to create some one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper. If we had been able to convert those chances, I think we could have won Trial 2-1 or even drawn 2-2, but I feel like we didn't make the most of those chances."
